Kelly Daniels

Kelly DanielsKelly Daniels, Assistant Professor, teaches Acting and Directing in the BFA Acting Programme. She also Chairs, and directs plays for University Players.

Professor Daniels received her BA Honours Theatre/Acting from the University of Winnipeg, and her MFA Directing from the University of Calgary. Kelly was honoured to participate in the Shaw Festival Director's Project where she assisted on four productions, and co-translated and adapted George Feydeau’s Hortense a dit: “Je m’en fous!” called Mouthing Off. Before teaching for the University of Windsor, her earlier experiences include 13 years on the Fringe Festival circuit with numerous companies and artists, as well as acting and directing in various companies across the country. She has taught and directed at the university level for 15 years; for the University of Winnipeg, Brock University, and the University of Calgary. Her teaching and creative research interests include Shakespeare, performance, and directing new works. She is also a professional acting coach, actor, director and producer, and is passionate about mentoring emerging artists.

Professor Daniels co-founded Lyndesfarne Theatre Projects with her husband, and Shaw Festival Ensemble member, Ric Reid. In 2010, Kelly received the Niagara Entrepreneur of the Year Award (Tourism) for her work with Lyndesfarne. The company ran for nine seasons; producing six festivals, 25 live professional theatre productions, numerous outreach and development projects for at risk youth and seniors, as well as classes for children and youth, Young Company, professional development workshops for local actors, including workshops with members of SITI Company.
