Sessional/Overload Course Offerings

In accordance with Article 54.07 of the WUFA Collective Agreement (www.uwindsor.ca/wufa), the Faculty of Education accepts applications from qualified individuals for the position of Sessional / Overload Instructor three times a year.

  • Fall courses and Practicum Advising positions are posted in the spring
  • Winter courses are posted in the fall
  • Intersession/Summer courses are posted in the winter

Applicants are expected to possess appropriate academic and professional qualifications. Related recent professional development and teaching experience is required. All courses/positions are subject to change, budgetary approval, and sufficient enrolment.


Requirements

New applicants must:

  • Provide a current CV/resume and any other documentation that can assist in the gridding process defined by 54:06 of the WUFA collective agreement.
  • Submit a letter of application specifying each course they wish to be considered for and outlining their qualifications. Please include statement of citizenship/immigration status as well as availability (days of the week and times of day).
  • Have a minimum of 2 current letters of reference, sent directly by the referees, to the email address eduemployment@uwindsor.ca within a week after the posting closes.
  • Provide evidence of qualifications (certifications, degrees, etc).

Returning applicants:

  • must provide a statement listing all specific posted course(s) for which they wish to be considered. Please also indicate your availability (days of the week and times of day).
  • are encouraged to provide an updated CV (and any other relevant documentation) to assist in the gridding process.

Note: Those returning sessionals who have completed a letter of intent/intent to return online form for this academic year need not reapply unless your course selections have changed (WUFA article 54:08 a)

A PhD or other terminal degree in a related field is preferred; however, candidates with a master’s degree who are currently enrolled in a PhD program will also be considered. Compensation:

For the 2026-2027 academic year:  $9,794.00 per course (inclusive of 4% vacation pay)

  • Fall 2026 Sessional/Overload Graduate Course Listing

Candidates applying to teach in the Faculty of Education Teacher Education program are expected to possess, at minimum, a masters’ degree or equivalent in the subject area for which they are applying, with preference given to those holding a completed PhD. Preference is also given to those with experience in the K-12 Ontario school system, as well as OCT certification. Related recent professional development and teaching experience is expected.

Courses could be scheduled during the day or evening. All courses (with the exception of certain Technological Studies sections) are delivered in-person. Due to the complexity of our scheduling, we cannot accommodate scheduling requests. Compensation:

For the 2026-2027 academic year:

  • $9,794.00 per full-credit 36-hour course (inclusive of 4% vacation pay)
  • $4,897.00 per half-credit 18-hour course (inclusive of 4% vacation pay)

  • Fall 2026 Sessional/Overload Teacher Education Course Listing

Candidates applying for a Faculty Advisor – Practicum Supervision position are expected to possess relevant and recent teaching experience within the K-12 Ontario school system. Current OCT certification in good standing is a strong asset; however, it is not required.

Faculty Advisors (FAs) play a vital role in bridging the Faculty of Education and its partner schools. They ensure quality practicum experiences, support teacher candidates (TCs), and maintain consistent communication between the Faculty of Education and the schools.

Among other duties, advisors are expected to meet with their group in-person at least twice per term; conduct site visits at local placement sites throughout the practicum period; be available to answer student inquiries throughout the Fall and Winter semesters.

*The Faculty of Education reserves the right to modify advising requirements and structure in response to forthcoming details related to the Government of Ontario’s recent changes to teacher education in the province.

Compensation:
