People at GLIER

The Great Lakes Institute for Environmental Research (GLIER) addresses complex environmental problems that transcend conventional disciplinary boundaries such as the effects of multiple environmental stressors on large lakes and their watersheds. Under the Directorship of Dr. Robert Michael McKay, ten faculty members at GLIER work together with the Auxiliary Academic Staff, Post-Doctoral Fellows, Research Associates, Visiting Scholars, Graduate Students and Staff to conduct exciting interdisciplinary research programs.

GLIER scientists have been recognized with many Provincial and National honours over the past decade including Canada Research Chairs, Premier’s Research Excellence Awards, a Department of Fisheries and Oceans Invasive Species Research Chair, a Fellow in the Royal Society of Canada and most recently, election of a member to the Royal Society’s College of New Scholars, Artists, and Scientists.

GLIER research has been featured in CNN, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Maclean’s, Globe and Mail, National Post, Discovery Channel, and CBC television and radio.
