Heat Stress:
Heat stress is considered to be the “net (overall)” heat load to which a worker may be exposed from the combined factors such as:
- Air Temperature
- Humidity
- Radiant Heat
Examples at the University include but not limited to:
- Kitchens
- Working outside and the sun is the main source of heat
- When humidity in the workplace (more than 50% relative humidity)
Anyone working or performing activities in hot environments must adhere to the University’s Heat Stress Prevention Program (OHS4.6.20) (PDF)
