Students – get your resumés ready and start practicing your interview skills.

The 2025-26 Ignite work-study job postings are about to go live.

Amongst the many benefits to participating in the extremely competitive paid program, available through Career Development and Experiential Learning, are the opportunities for students to gain professional skills, practice job search and interview skills and build up their resumés.

“It is a highly sought after program with positions filling quickly and this year, we are expecting around 150 plus jobs to be posted,” says program coordinator Samantha Bell.

“The Career Centre is here to help every step of the way from building a resumé to interview prep – just book an appointment online.”

On Aug. 15, all Ignite positions will be open to eligible students on the mySuccess website.

The first day of work starts on Sept. 2.

This will be the only call for jobs for the Fall 2025 and Winter 2026 semesters. There will be no winter call.

“This year we’ve revamped the experiential learning aspect to really tap into all we have to offer here at the Career Centre,” says Bell.

“During the initial launch session, we’ll have an opportunity to explore goal setting as well as how best to work towards gaining transferrable skills for the semester.

There will also be an official mid-point check-in with their supervisor to help evaluate what is going well and what may need improvement, giving the student time to excel.”

To be eligible for the Ignite program, students must:

Be in good academic standing (cumulative average of 60 per cent or higher and not on academic probation)

Have a valid social insurance number and be eligible to work on campus

Not be on a co-op work term in the semester they are employed in an Ignite position

Be registered in a minimum course load (60 per cent for domestic students, 80 per cent for international students, and 40 per cent for students with a documented permanent disability)

Applications require a resumé and potential cover letter. Students who require assistance with their resumé and cover letter are welcome to schedule an appointment with a career advisor.

“First and foremost, students will gain those much-needed professional skills – you just never know where an Ignite position can lead to,” she says.
