The University of Windsor Lancers will kick off a new varsity football season this Saturday, welcoming the Guelph Gryphons to Alumni Stadium.
Game time is set for 7 p.m. on Sept. 6.
More than just a match-up on the field, the evening is designed as a campus-wide celebration. Students, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the Windsor community are invited to show their Lancer pride and contribute to the spirited atmosphere.
Pre-game festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with the Not Your Traditional Tailgate Party in Bridge Lot A.
Sponsored by the University of Windsor Students’ Alliance, the Graduate Student Society and the Organization of Part-time University Students, the event will feature a live DJ, bubbles, face painting and other activities.
Residence students and fans from across campus will gather before walking over to the stadium together.
University President Dr. J.J. McMurtry will take part in the ceremonial kick-off.
Attendees are encouraged to wear blue and gold to help create a vibrant home-field environment.
Tickets are available online. Admission is free for students with a valid student card, which can be presented at the gate or used to claim tickets online.
Fans are invited to pack the stands and cheer on the Lancers as they begin what promises to be another exciting season.
