The Huang family legacy includes three proud University of Windsor science graduates.

The family story starts with Fore-lien Huang completing a biology doctorate in the 1970s. Then his son William Huang, graduated with a double major of biology and psychology in the 1990s. In 2001 Tiffany Huang came to UWindsor to follow in her father’s footsteps and successfully pursued a biology and psychology double major too.

“I’m constantly reminded of how interconnected our journeys truly are,” says the youngest Huang.

Tiffany Huang grew up in Taiwan dreaming of coming to Canada for her post-secondary studies. Once here, she filled her calendar with events and activities outside of the classroom.

Tiffany Huang represents the third generation of her family to study at the University of Windsor.

She was co-president of the Biology Students’ Union, a teaching assistant for human physiology, an awareness co-ordinator for the Canadian Cancer Society fundraising organization Relay for Life, and was a club manager with Little Kindness, promoting student wellness with small acts of kindness in the UWindsor community.

“I don’t regret my decision to come here and I’m glad I’m able to thrive in this environment.”

She also excelled academically as well as getting research experience working with integrative biology professor Tanya Noel, researching misconceptions surrounding vaccines for her fourth-year thesis. Huang graduated as a gold LEAD Medallion Scholar.

All three alumni reunited on campus when the family travelled from Taiwan to Windsor to attend Huang’s 2025 Spring convocation. Tiffany said it was surreal having her family in Windsor.

“I’m so happy they were able to make the trip here for my graduation. I’m also incredibly grateful for the opportunity to reintroduce Windsor to them through my own lens — it’s a full-circle moment that will always make me smile.

Huang is now a New York University student studying to be a dentist, just like her father.
