The University of Windsor recently welcomed a delegation from Suzhou Centennial College (SCC), a joint international institution established with Centennial College (CC) that assists Chinese students seeking access to Canadian postsecondary education.

The visit reflects shared priorities in student mobility, academic collaboration and international pathway development, building on UWindsor’s previously established partnership with CC.

The visit to the University of Windsor follows a series of recent leadership exchanges between the institutions.

In November 2025, UWindsor Provost and Vice-President, Academic, Dr. Cheryl Collier, travelled to Suzhou to explore opportunities for expanded collaboration. That visit laid the groundwork for reciprocal visits by CC and SCC leadership, who met with UWindsor deans and senior leaders to discuss future initiatives, program pathways and areas of strategic growth.

SCC President Li emphasized the strong alignment between the institutions and the productivity of the visit.

“This visit demonstrated clear alignment between our institutions,” said President Li.

“Suzhou Centennial College acts as a bridge for Chinese students to learn about Canada and aims to become a bridge for the University of Windsor to further engage with Chinese students.”

President Li also noted SCC’s interest in serving as an ambassador for UWindsor within the Chinese market and extended an invitation for UWindsor leadership to visit Suzhou in the future. Reflecting on the winter conditions during the delegation’s time in Windsor, he added that snow is regarded as a symbol of good fortune — an encouraging sign for a productive partnership ahead.

University of Windsor President J.J. McMurtry expressed appreciation for the delegation’s visit and highlighted the broader significance of the collaboration.

“We were pleased to welcome the SCC and CC leadership to Windsor,” said President McMurtry.

“This partnership reflects a shared commitment to expanding access, mobility and opportunity for students to benefit from diverse academic environments.”

The visit reaffirmed UWindsor’s commitment to building strategic international partnerships that enhance academic excellence, expand global engagement and create meaningful pathways for students across borders.
