Outstanding Scholars students, friends and family gathered to celebrate the 2025/2026 graduating cohort.
The third annual Outstanding Scholars Gala celebrated the program’s hallmarks: curiosity, courage and community.
Nicole Vanier won the Outstanding Scholar Leadership Award for her contributions to the Outstanding Scholars Committee, academic excellence and work as a research assistant in the Rondeau-Gagné Group lab.
“I found a community that encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone, pursue research opportunities and support other students in finding their own confidence and voice,” said Vanier.
“I’m deeply grateful for the mentorship, friendships and experiences that made my undergraduate journey so rewarding.”
The Outstanding Scholars program receives more applications than any other entrance award on campus. Students accepted into the program receive a scholarship, access to a mentorship program and human development curriculum and networking and community-building opportunities throughout their first year.
Full scholars receive six paid placements in research and creative work across all faculties.
“It takes a concerted effort to run a program of more than 350 high-achievers on campus,” said Dr. Tim Brunet, program coordinator.
“The program could not run without the work of the Outstanding Scholars Student Council and several community partners. The gala celebrates the achievements of the program and its student leadership.”
