UWindsor alumni are invited to reconnect with the University community during Alumni Week, from Monday, Sept. 28, to Saturday, Oct. 3.
The week will offer opportunities to connect with fellow Lancers, celebrate shared memories and take part in events on campus and online.
Alumni Week kicks off Monday with online activities including a nostalgic trip down memory lane. Each decade of graduates will be invited to revisit their UWindsor experience through curated photo galleries and stories from The Lance.
There will also be opportunities for alumni to share stories and enter contests. Follow @uwinAlumni and @UWindsor on social media for stories and updates throughout the week.
Alumni can also take part in the week-long Then. Now. Always a Lancer. initiative by sharing their stories and memories.
Tuesday, Sept. 29, brings the annual Campus Community BBQ to River Commons along Turtle Island Walk. Students are invited to gather from noon to 1:30 p.m. for food, conversation and school spirit with alumni, faculty, staff and friends, while supplies last. The event is presented by the Office of the President with support from the University of Windsor Alumni Association.
Wednesday, Sept. 30, is Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Alumni are invited to take time for reflection and learning as the UWindsor community acknowledges the truths of Canada’s residential school system and honours the resilience of survivors, their families and Indigenous communities.
Thursday, Oct. 1, will feature an Alumni & Friends Reception at Cooper's Hawk Vineyards. The event will bring alumni and friends together for an evening of connection.
The Chancellor’s Leadership Brunch follows Friday, Oct. 2, featuring chancellor Dwight Duncan in conversation with Bill Marra, president and chief executive officer of Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare. Their fireside chat will explore leadership, service and community impact. The event has reached capacity and registration is closed.
Friday also marks the beginning of Black Alumni Weekend, with The Comeback Walk: Regraduation Honouring Black Excellence from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Alumni Auditorium in the CAW Student Centre.
Black Alumni Weekend continues Saturday with Next Gen, Same Roots, an alumni and student mentorship mix and mingle from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Freed-Orman Auditorium. The Pre-Game Link-Up will follow from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Black Scholar’s Lounge, with additional activities including a men’s volleyball exhibition game, self-guided campus and Sandwich Towne Black history walking tours and the Alumni Association pre-game tailgate.
Saturday evening brings Alumni Week to a close with Lancer football under the lights. The Lancers take on the York Lions at 7 p.m. at Alumni Field, with alumni receiving 15 per cent off tickets with the code ALUMNI15 when purchasing online at golancers.ca.
