Gordon Orr brings decades of leadership experience to his new dual role as CEO of TWEPI and Invest WindsorEssex. [University of Windsor]

University of Windsor alum Gordon Orr (BA 1989) is expanding his leadership role in the Windsor-Essex region.
The current chief executive officer of Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island (TWEPI) will serve dual roles when he takes on the additional role of chief executive officer of Invest WindsorEssex on July 2, 2025.
Orr says he is grateful for the career opportunity, and thanks the boards of TWEPI and Invest WindsorEssex for the trust they are placing in him.
“I very much understand the meaningful roles both regional entities have in being economic generators and job creators,” says Orr.
“With a strong bench of senior leaders and equally talented staff at both organizations, I look forward to leading these teams for the betterment of the entire region.”
TWEPI is dedicated to promoting and selling Windsor, Essex and Pelee Island as a remarkable destination for tourist, convention goers and business travelers, while Invest WindsorEssex, supported by the City of Windsor and County of Essex, is responsible for advancing economic development to grow and sustain prosperity in the region.
Orr has held the role of TWEPI’s CEO since September 2011. He has been working in the tourism industry for more than 30 years including roles as the managing director of Convention & Visitors Bureau of Windsor, Essex County & Pelee Island as well as roles in the industry as a hotelier.
The proud alumnus stays connected to the University of Windsor and says it continues to be a very meaningful part of his life.
“As immediate past president of the Alumni Association and as a current member of the Board of Governors, I very much understand how my university education helped prepare me for any measure of success I have had along my vocational journey,” says Orr.
“I continue to be a proud supporter of UWindsor and understand the important role it plays in our broader community.”
