Leadership Development
Throughout the year, OS students have opportunities to engage in Leadership workshops offered through the Student Success and Leadership Centre. Details will be shared during the Outstanding Scholars Orientation to be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025. The Leadership framework has three themes:
- Leadership & You
- Organizational/Group Leadership
- International Leadership
The Lancer Leadership Conference and the UWill Discover conferences include opportunities for OS students to lead activities and participate in workshops. They can share their research work, learn how to present, and participate in leadership simulations.
Our Guiding Principles for Leadership
Our leadership programming targets human development with the underpinning framework being the Human Development and Capability Approach. We also engage in corporate content through publications from Harvard Business Review, the World Economic Forum, and the International Leadership Association. Outstanding Scholars Student Council (OSSC)
The OSSC is integral to program engagement and the student voice. Elections are held in March (for most positions) and in September for First- and Second-year representatives.
Outstanding Scholars Peer Mentor Program
The OS program offers Peer Mentor program to incoming first-year candidates. OS students coordinate this program, and it offers Scholars the opportunity to help new students transition into the scholarly and social life of the University.
