Leadership Development
Throughout the year, Outstanding Scholars students engage in leadership workshops offered through the Student Success and Leadership Centre. Details are shared during Outstanding Scholars Orientation (held on the first Saturday after Labour Day each year).
Our leadership framework has three themes:
- Leadership & You
- Organizational / Group Leadership
- International Leadership
The Lancer Leadership Conference and UWill Discover conferences provide opportunities to lead activities, build presentation skills, and participate in leadership simulations—while sharing your work with peers, faculty, and campus partners.
Our Guiding Principles for Leadership
Our leadership programming targets human development, guided by the Human Development and Capability Approach. We also explore applied leadership through publications from Harvard Business Review, the World Economic Forum, and the International Leadership Association. To learn more, contact Dr. Tim Brunet at tbrunet@uwindsor.ca.
Outstanding Scholars Student Council (OSSC)
The OSSC is central to program engagement and the student voice. Elections are held in March (for most positions) and in September for first- and second-year representatives.
Outstanding Scholars Peer Mentor Program
The Outstanding Scholars program offers a peer mentor program for incoming first-year Candidates. Scholars coordinate the program, building community and helping new students transition into the academic and social life of the University.
