Facilities' Services
Alumni, Laurier, and Cartier Halls all run on a campus wide one pipe system. Water is heated or cooled within the one pipe system that is produced at the Energy Conservation Centre (ECC) and distributed through underground pipes
Transition to heat mode is in October, while transition to cooling mode is sometime is in May. Transition dates are scheduled by ECC, not by Housing and Residence Life. Once the transition is made there is no ability to switch back.
Rodzik Hall is not on the campus water system, therefore, each suite has an individual thermostat where students can adjust temperature and mode (heat or A/C) at any time of the year.
Donations bins (for clothing only) are available in the laundry room of each building. Items placed in the bins are picked regularly by a local charity.
Alumni, Cartier, and Laurier Halls - garbage rooms are located on each floor and are emptied regularly by housekeeping staff. Small trash cans and recycling boxes are provided in your room/suite. Rodzik Hall - the garbage and recycling room is located on the first floor. You are required to supply your own trash can and recycling bins.
Sharps (needles, syringes, lancets, auto injectors, sharp blades) are to be placed in Sharps Container that the student is to supply and maintain (responsible to empty container as necessary).
Full kitchens are available in Alumni, Laurier, and Cartier Halls only. The full kitchens include a sink, stove and microwave. In addition, Microwave Rooms are located on each floor in Laurier Hall.
Kitchens may be closed at any time by Residence staff if deemed necessary, ie. Unsafe cooking resulting in fire alarms, etc.
