The Univeristy of Windsor joined the Scholars at Risk Canada network in 2015. The network protects scholars whose lives, liberty, well-being, or academic freedom is threatened. It arranges temporary positions at more than 400 member institutions of higher education worldwide.
Supported equally by Windsor Law, Political Science, and the central university budget, UWindsor has been working hard this past year to host our first scholar, Dr. Zeyyat Bandeoglu. Dr. Bandeoglu arrived at the end of August for his one-year appointment. However, we have not been able to announce this widely until December because his family was still in Turkey. Today, Bandeoglu is happy to be reunited with his family here in Windsor and he is busy preparing for two classes in law and political science that he will teach in the winter semester.
