The Honourable Justice Louise Charron 

"Careers in law: My road to the Supreme Court" 

As part of Windsor Law's Judge in Residence program, retired Supreme Court of Canada Justice Louise Charron's presentation will be followed by an open question and answer session for students and faculty. 

The Honourable Louise Charron is a jurist by profession. After obtaining her law degree at the University of Ottawa in 1975, she practised law in a private firm, served as Assistant Crown Attorney for the Judicial District of Ottawa-Carleton, and was Assistant Professor in the French common law section of the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law. She was appointed a District Court Judge of Ontario in 1988, a Judge of the Ontario Court of Appeal in 1995, and a Deputy Judge of the Nunavut Court of Justice in 1999. She was appointed to the Supreme Court of Canada in 2004 and retired in 2011.

The honourable Louise Charron has received Honorary LL.D.s from the Law Society of Upper Canada, Nipissing University, and from Sudbury’s Laurentian University. She is also a recipient of the Companion Order of Canada.
