The Graduate Diploma in University Teaching consists of three required courses and two electives.

Students must complete:

    • CTLP-8200: Course Design (1.5 credit)
  1. Two elective courses from the following list:

    • CTLP- 8120: Leading Effective Discussions (1.5 credit)

    • SCIE-8001: STEM Teaching Development (3 credit)*
  1. One required full-credit (3 credit) capstone course
    • CTLP-8300: University Teaching Capstone (3 credit)

*This course is only open to students enrolled in the SAGES program and who have completed SCIE-8000.

The program is designed to be flexible, so that students can complete within one year if they are able to fit the requirements in with their other responsibilities, or can extend it over time, so long as the student is enrolled in a graduate program while working toward completion.

The recommended sequence of courses is to begin the program with CTLP-8100: Learning Centred Teaching in Higher Education, then complete CTLP-8200 and elective courses in whichever order fits best with student schedules. To register for the capstone course, CTLP-8300: University Teaching Capstone, students must have completed all other requirements but may be registered in a final requirement concurrently with CTLP-8300.

Students will be assigned a mentor at the start of the program, who will offer guidance and advice throughout the program.
