Why is the GDip in University Teaching only available to currently enrolled graduate students?
The GDip in University Teaching is a Type II graduate diploma program, which means that it is offered in conjunction with a Master’s or doctoral degree and represents an additional, usually interdisciplinary, qualification. Requirements for Type II GDips stipulate that only students who are currently enrolled full-time in a primary program are eligible to enroll, and they must complete the GDip at or before the time of graduation from their primary program. This allows students to graduate with both a graduate degree and a graduate diploma.
Can I take courses for credit without being enrolled in the GDip?
As enrollment is limited, preference will be given to those who are registered in the GDip or the University Teaching Certificate (UTC). Space permitting, all but one of the courses may be taken for credit with the permission of the instructor. However, CTLP-8300: University Teaching Capstone is only open to those currently enrolled in the GDiP or UTC and who have completed the prerequisites.
