Campus mourns death of retiree

Campus flags will be lowered Thursday, October 13, in honour of retiree Barbara Marion, who died October 9. Marion joined the UWindsor staff as a textbook buyer in the University Bookstore in 1974, a position she held until her retirement in 2005. Funeral services are planned for Thursday; read details in her obituary.

Luncheon to celebrate launch of Business of Innovation Program

The Centre for Enterprise and Law is hosting a campus luncheon to celebrate the launch of its Business of Innovation Program on Friday, October 14.

The program will nurture the business ideas of young entrepreneurs while offering an experiential learning opportunity to students. A series of workshops will focus on key legal and business aspects of starting an enterprise. They will run 6 to 8 p.m. in Alumni Hall’s McPherson Lounge:

Campus mourns retiree death

Campus flags will be lowered Thursday in memory of Annette Chittle, a retiree of Assumption University who died Friday, September 30. She worked as a bookkeeper for Assumption University from 1981 to her retirement in 1996.

Stephen Willetts, VP Finance and Administration, resigns

University President Alan Wildeman informed the University of Windsor community that Stephen Willetts, Vice President Administration and Finance, has resigned. This role oversees the management of the university’s financial, IT, human and physical resources as well as facilities planning, campus police and parking, health and safety, risk management, food services and residences.

In making his announcement, Willetts expressed his appreciation for what his years at the University have meant.

Bicentennial celebration to restrict access to Assumption Church parking lot Thursday evening

The parking lot east of Assumption Church will be closed to public use the evening of Thursday, October 6, starting at 5 p.m.

The church is hosting a celebration of the 200th anniversary of Blessed Marie Rose Durocher, founder of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, a teaching order with a long history in Windsor.

A Mass celebrating the anniversary will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by a reception.

It’s in you to give: on-campus blood donor clinic Tuesday

The most important work you do this week just might involve rolling up your sleeves and lying down on the job. The Canadian Blood Service will hold a full blood donor clinic on Tuesday, October 4, from 10 a.m. to 4:40 p.m. in the CAW Student Centre’s Ambassador Auditorium.

For this clinic, the Canadian Blood Service will use its appointment system. It encourages donors to book appointments by calling 1-888-2DONATE (1-888-236-6283). Walk-in donors are still welcome but appointments will better accommodate donors' working schedules.
