You are asked to memorize a one-minute monologue in preparation for the workshop. You will be lead through a warm-up by a faculty member from the Acting program and we will coach you to help you prepare your monologue for an audition for theatre school.

It is best to choose a monologue that is active, one in which the character is trying to convince another character to do something that the other character may not want to do. Also, choose a character who is between the ages of 16 and 30 so you don’t have to worry about playing age. If you have questions, please contact Professor Lionel Walsh at

The Audition

Interested students have the option of completing their audition either in-person, or through a digitial submission. 

Candidates are asked to memorize and prepare two monologues. Each monologue should be approximately 1 minute in length. One monologue should be by a character from a play by Shakespeare. The other monologue should be by a character from a published modern or contemporary play. The monologues should contrast with one another.
