Audition Workshops

You are asked to memorize a one-minute monologue in preparation for the workshop. You will be lead through a warm-up by a faculty member from the Acting program and we will coach you to help you prepare your monologue for an audition for theatre school.

It is best to choose a monologue that is active, one in which the character is trying to convince another character to do something that the other character may not want to do. Also, choose a character who is between the ages of 16 and 30 so you don’t have to worry about playing age. If you have questions, please contact Professor Lionel Walsh at walsha@uwindsor.ca.

The Audition

Interested students have the option of completing their audition either in-person, or through a digitial submission.

Candidates are asked to memorize and prepare two monologues. Each monologue should be approximately 1 minute in length. One monologue should be by a character from a play by Shakespeare. The other monologue should be by a character from a published modern or contemporary play. The monologues should contrast with one another.

Digital Submission Deadline: April 28th, 2024

Please print our Audition Guidelines for hints on how to prepare for your audition. Included is a list of suggested monologues, though you do not need to choose from this list.
