TITLE: Locally Resonant Acoustic Isolation for Portable Optomechanical Accelerometry
Abstract
This presentation showcases a novel vibration isolation platform tailored for optomechanical inertial sensors, which are inherently limited by environmental acoustic noise. By leveraging a multi-frame “metaplate” structure with locally resonant unit cells, the system demonstrates tunable bandgaps capable of attenuating vibrations by over 100 dB. Designed through finite element modeling and fabricated via 3D printing, the platform is optimized for integration with high-Q membrane and pendulum resonators. Our goal is to enable portable, field-deployable optomechanical gravimeters with enhanced signal-to-noise ratios, making thermal noise the dominant limit. Preliminary results show promising alignment of the bandgap with target sensor frequencies, with future work focused on microscale fabrication and system-level integration.
