CUPE 1393, representing Skilled Trades and Technical Staff, and the University have jointly submitted requests to the Ontario Ministry of Labour for the appointment of a conciliator. A conciliator is a neutral third party who assists in the collective bargaining process.
This is a common occurrence during collective bargaining.
The University and CUPE 1393 have been engaged in negotiations to renew the collective agreement since April 14 and, to date, have met 10 times.
The University values the contributions of all our employees and remains dedicated to respectful, constructive bargaining. We are committed to working collaboratively on a fair, fiscally responsible tentative agreement that is acceptable to both parties, as we navigate the financial challenges facing the University and postsecondary sector.
