New versions of the University's GlobalProtect VPN client will be made available in the morning of Thursday October 21. The client version will be upgraded from 5.1.7 to 5.2.8 on Windows and macOS, and from 5.2.6 to 5.2.8 on mobile devices, Microsoft Surface tablets and Linux clients.
After the upgrade, when users connect to the VPN, they will be prompted that a new client version is available for download. If they agree to upgrade, the new client will be downloaded in the background. When the new client is ready, they will be prompted again to install the new version. After the install is complete, users may have to manually reconnect to the VPN.
Please note that the new version of the VPN client will not run on Windows 7 devices. Windows 7 is no longer supported.
If users experience difficulties after the GlobalProtect upgrade, they should contact the Service Desk at 519-253-3000 x4419 or use the Live Chat on https://www.uwindsor.ca/itservices/

Blackboard Learn: Some features unavailable
An issue with Blackboard Learn was brought to our attention at 11:30am Oct 21, 2021 that will require a restart of the system. This restart should happen tomorrow morning (October 22) during the normal maintenance times. The issue does not cause problems with basic functionality, but with the global notifications for Updates, My Grades and announcement emails which includes the ability to email Announcements. These options will be unavailable as we work to resolve the problem. For now, the information for Updates and My Grades can be accessed by visiting each one of your courses. Emailing will be available after the restart.
