The University of Windsor is launching a campus-wide strategy to support the responsible and effective use of artificial intelligence, including new governance structures, academic guidelines, and a dedicated AI resource hub.
The University of Windsor is enhancing its commitment to artificial intelligence (AI) through strategic actions to support responsible use of AI across campus.
Alongside ongoing faculty-led AI research, the University has already laid a strong foundation.
Work has been done through an AI Administrative Excellence Governance Committee and an AI Subcommittee of the Academic Policy Committee of Senate, exploring classroom integration, syllabus guidance, and a dedicated AI resource website.
Starting this summer, Nick Baker, Learning Specialist in the Centre for Teaching and Learning, will focus on this initiative as the University of Windsor’s Institutional Advisor on Artificial Intelligence.
Baker will lead the development of an AI roadmap for the University, help establish an Institutional Advisory Committee, and launch an AI Community of Practice to support collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
President and Vice-Chancellor Robert Gordon says these efforts reflect the University's commitment to guiding faculty, staff, and students through the challenges and opportunities of AI.
"AI is here to stay and it is transforming quickly," Dr. Gordon said. "This strategy will ensure that our campus is ready to navigate the complex technology while upholding academic and operational integrity."
Future updates will include regular reports outlining developments and refinements to the University's AI strategy, to be available to the campus community on the AI website.
