As retailers ramp up for Black Friday, the University of Windsor’s Office of Sustainability is encouraging a different kind of participation – one rooted in sustainability and circular thinking.
Sustainability officer Nadia Harduar is inviting the campus community to join #CircularMonday, a global movement that challenges throwaway culture by promoting reuse, repair, donation, and the regeneration of resources.
The initiative builds on UWindsor’s recent activities for Circular Economy Month in October, which engaged students, staff and faculty in learning about sustainable consumption, reducing waste, and adopting environmentally conscious practices.
From awareness booths to interactive activities, participants explored ways to integrate circular thinking into daily life – laying the groundwork for ongoing initiatives like #CircularMonday.
“The goal of #CircularMonday is to reduce waste and make circular solutions part of everyday life,” said Harduar, sustainability officer at UWindsor.
“Even small actions, like repairing an item instead of discarding it, or sharing resources with others can add up to make a bigger impact.”
On #CircularMonday, the Office of Sustainability encourages the campus community to take action by repairing or upcycling items, sharing ideas, and inspiring others on social media.
Campus members can also complete a short survey for a chance to win a UWindsor reusable travel mug: Survey link.
At UWindsor, we believe small, mindful choices add up to real impact. Share your circular actions online using #CircularMonday and help inspire a more sustainable, resourceful campus community.
