Windsor Law students turned generosity into action last weekend, filling an entire school bus with food and hygiene supplies – a heartwarming show of community support that became one of the Downtown Mission’s largest donations this year.

The Nov. 23 Stuff-A-Bus campaign, organized by the Corporate Social Responsibility Club at Windsor Law, mobilized volunteers to gather donations outside four local grocery stores. The initiative aligned with a national call from Food Banks Canada, providing Windsor residents with an easy way to contribute as winter approaches.

The student-led initiative turned a simple idea into a powerful act of giving.

“We were able to fill the entire bus with the help of the community in Windsor, and the event proved how big our community's hearts actually are,” said first-year law student Akash Sidhu, one of the event organizers.

Shoppers were invited to donate canned goods, fresh staples, hygiene products, and other essentials. By the afternoon, the bus was packed, leaving volunteers inspired by the generosity that poured in.

“This donation helps us provide three daily meals and vital food bank support to thousands of Windsor residents every month. We’re incredibly grateful – efforts like this make our work possible,” said Matt Johnson, director of programs and services at the Downtown Mission.

With Giving Tuesday on Dec. 2 approaching, the Stuff-A-Bus initiative highlights the leadership and compassion of UWindsor students, demonstrating how student-driven efforts can spark meaningful change in the community.
