Studying Philosophy has helped me become a stronger advocate for the clients I work with. I am a Social Worker at the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation, where I manage support for our participants. I work with participants who are experiencing concerns with their mental health or behaviour, and help connect them to resources their community. Studying philosophy has helped me gain a deeper understanding of the social and political systems that impact the clients I work with. Recognizing how social policy influences access to resources has helped me to better navigate social systems with my clients. It has also given me the tools analyze moral and ethical dilemmas in my work from diverse perspectives, and to consider ways that our organization can adapt to better support participants based on current political climates.
