In Fall 2020, the University of Windsor established the Anti-Black Racism Task Force to listen and learn from the experiences of Black students, staff, and faculty to determine priorities for substantive change. The Task Force's report highlights key recommendations to address systemic anti-Black racism across our campus community.

Response from UWindsor's Administration
“I want to thank the members of the Task Force for their thoughtful and dedicated work, and all the members of the community, and especially the Black community, for their generosity in engaging with this process, despite the emotionally exhausting work and dedication this required.
We fully support the recommendations that the Task Force has brought forward. We all have a role in dismantling systemic anti-Black racism and in ensuring that our campus is inclusive, welcoming, and equitable for all.“We encourage everyone to review the task force report and to reflect upon the individual and collective actions we can all take to make concrete steps towards meaningful change. We have begun this work, but there is much more to do.”
- Dr. Robert Gordon, President and Vice-Chancellor, University of Windsor
Next Steps
The University of Windsor undertakes this work on the premise that this time is and must be different. As a community, we share in the renewed awakening--reckoning, if you will--in the fight for racial justice and equality and victims and survivors of racism and discrimination. We use this opportunity as the beginning of a continuous journey of learning and of a wake-up call to hold ourselves accountable for the actions and inactions that have upheld anti-Black racism.
We must change our university culture and we must hold one another accountable in order to effect change for a more equitable, inclusive and justice demanding campus. The time is now to build and in some cases re-build a culture of trust, honour, respect, and equality. This is the behavioural standard that we must set for our campus and uphold without compromise.
Beginning January 2022, the University’s Task Force Report Implementation Team will be formed and will carefully review and operationalize the Task Force recommendations.
A plan of action including clear accountabilities will be communicated by January 31, 2022.
