Why Job Shadow?
Virtual or in person · A few hours to a full day
Spend a few hours to a full day with a professional and get a firsthand look at their work. No two Job Shadows are the same. You might get a behind-the-scenes look at an organization, visit a worksite, follow a professional through part of their day, learn about a specialized area of their field, or hear how they built their career and got to where they are today.
Job Shadow gives you the chance to:
See the workplace
Tour a facility, follow your host through part of their day, sit in on a meeting, or see a team in action.
Engage with the work
Take part in an activity, demonstration, or hands-on experience that gives you a taste of the work in the field.
Build your network
Meet a professional, ask questions and hear about their career path and experience.
Shape your next step
Use what you learn to make more informed decisions about your courses, experiences, and career plans.
How It Works
1. Register & Explore: Register for Job Shadow through mySuccess to view the available host opportunities.
2. Complete Your Application: Express interest in the opportunities that interest you and complete your Job Shadow application through mySuccess.
3. Get Matched: Job Shadow opportunities are matched based on student interests and host availability. While we do our best to make meaningful matches, a placement is not guaranteed.
4. Connect With Your Host: Once matched, connect with your host to confirm the date, time, and format of your Job Shadow.
5. Complete Your Job Shadow: Spend a few hours to a full day with your host, observing, asking questions, and learning about their career, workplace, and experience.
How to Apply
Job Shadow is open to current University of Windsor students from all academic programs and years of study.
Fall 2026
Applications are now closed.
Shadow Days: October 13–30, 2026
Winter 2027
Applications open in January 2027.
Shadow Days: February 2027
Job Shadow runs twice a year, with shadowing typically taking place in October and February. Applications typically open in September and January.
