Now an award-winning PhD student in Biological Sciences has made an important discovery about how the lamprey processes olfactory information, which he says may help aid efforts to eradicate the invasive species from the Great Lakes.
Campus flags were lowered on Wednesday, August 8, to recognize the sudden passing of Dr. Peter Townley, Head of the Department of Economics within the Faculty of Science, on Friday, August 3, 2012.
Dr. Townley began his career at the University of Windsor, on July 1, 2006, as Head of the Department of Economics, an appointment he held for a five-year term until June 30, 2011. Following a recently completed sabbatical leave, Dr. Townley had just begun a second term as Head, Department of Economics, on July 1, 2012.
The Educational Development Centre will host a welcoming event for part-time and transfer students planning to attend UWindsor for the 2012 fall semester on Thursday, August 23 from noon to 4 p.m. in Ambassador Auditorium.
August Orientation for part-time Students and Transfer-mation for transfer students will give those new to campus an opportunity to receive UWin cards; register for a UWin email account; learn about classroom technology and campus services and meet new people, including upper-year transfer and part-time students who will share their own experiences.
The Centre for Enterprise and Law is offering students and recent graduates an opportunity to develop their business ideas into reality with its Internship and Mentorship program.
Students or grads who live in Windsor-Essex County and who have a completed business plan or a business to grow are invited to apply for the program, which provides up to $5000 and the services of an experienced business mentor.
