Date: Friday, November 10 – 10:00-11:30 PM
Location: Ron W. Ianni Building Room 0140
This workshop will review some of the recent advances in the field of generative AI that clearly intersect with academic life, discuss where faculty are already encountering GAI in their everyday practice, some of the disciplinary developments for legal practice and research, and what this might mean for law students. We will discuss some of the emerging research on AI in teaching, research, and practice, and explore some of the more difficult questions that are yet to be addressed.
Questions of what these developments mean for creation of knowledge, creative works, assessing student learning, ethical and equity considerations remain nascent and hotly contested, but patterns are emerging that indicate how the answers may evolve in the short and medium terms. The workshop is a snapshot of where we are, and what the near horizon looks like.
