WINDSOR, Ont. — The University of Windsor will celebrate more than 4,100 graduates at its 125th Spring Convocation, June 2 to 5, 2026, with nine ceremonies honouring students from every faculty at the Toldo Lancer Centre.
Two honorary Doctor of Laws degrees, top student awards and the achievements of graduands spanning arts, science, law, engineering, business, education, nursing and human kinetics will mark a week that Acting University Registrar Lorraine Chandler calls one of the most meaningful on the academic calendar.
“Convocation is the moment we look forward to all year,” said Chandler. “It’s when the work of our students, faculty and staff becomes most visible — and most meaningful.”
Among the student honours, Brett Mitchell Blondin will receive the Governor General’s Silver Medal, awarded to the graduating honours student deemed most outstanding in their field. Blondin also earned the Board of Governors’ Medal for Law. Zeina Abou Haidar receives the President’s Medal, presented to the graduating undergraduate student who has made an outstanding contribution to campus life while maintaining a superior academic record. Abou Haidar also earned the Board of Governors’ Medal for Communication, Media and Film.
The ceremonies will also include the presentation of honorary degrees to two distinguished Canadians. Broadcaster Joe Bowen (BA ’73) — the longtime radio voice of the Toronto Maple Leafs — will be recognized at the June 3 afternoon session. The Honourable Michael H. Tulloch, Chief Justice of Ontario, will receive his degree at the final session on June 5.
The ceremonies will be presided over by Chancellor Dwight Duncan and President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. J.J. McMurtry.
