IMPORTANT DATES FOR FALL 2021

STUDENTS WHO APPLIED FOR SPRING 2021 CONVOCATION BUT DID NOT GRADUATE MUST REAPPLY FOR FALL 2021 CONVOCATION

September 6 - Labour Day (statutory holiday)

September 22

Academic Add/Drop Date: Last day for late registration and change of courses 

September 23 

Final oral defense and format checking deadline for Fall graduation and Phase I:

  • last day for the final oral defense of dissertations, theses and major papers for Fall graduation, and
  • last day to submit for format checking dissertations, theses and major papers to Graduate Studies, for students who are planning to meet the Fall graduation and Phase I (100% tuition refund) deadline for Fall term 2021.  Students should allow at least 3 business days to receive formatting feedback.

Defending students must be registered for Fall 2021 - review the registration requirements for students in research programs who are defending and/or depositing.

September 30

Fall graduation and Phase I deposit deadline:

  • Last day to complete all requirements for graduate degrees, including the deposit of dissertations, theses and major papers to Graduate Studies, for Fall graduation; and
  • Last day for completion of all requirements for graduate degrees, including the deposit of dissertations, theses and major papers to Graduate Studies, under Phase I (100% tuition refund) of the tuition fee refund policy for the Fall term 2021.

Note: All students who are planning to gradate in the Fall convocation must have applied to graduate. Students who applied for Spring 2021 graduation but did not graduate must re-apply for Fall - review details from Registrar's office graduation webpage.

Students completing the deposit must be registered for Fall 2021 - review the registration requirements for students in research programs who are defending and/or depositing.

October 6 

Financial Drop Date for Fall Semester

October 7

Format checking deadline for Phase II:

Last day to submit for format checking dissertations, theses and major papers to Graduate Studies, for students who are planning to meet the Phase II (50% tuition refund) deadline for Fall term 2021.

October 11 - Thanksgiving Day (University closed)

October 9-17 - Reading Week

October 14 

Phase II deposit deadline:

Last day for completion of all requirements for graduate degrees, including the deposit of dissertations, theses and major papers to Graduate Studies, under Phase II (50% tuition refund) of the tuition fee refund policy for the Fall term 2021.

November 5

Fall 2021 Convocation

Note: All students who are planning to gradate in the Fall convocation must have applied to graduate. Students who applied for Spring 2021 graduation but did not graduate must re-apply for Fall - review details from Registrar's office graduation webpage.

November 26 

Last day to send a doctoral dissertation to the External Examiner for a January 2022 defense.

 

Students who wish to request the following need to submit a Service Request* to obtain approval: 

-       apply for a leave of absence

-       apply for a course substitution

-       submit a thesis/dissertation committee form

-       request an PhD external examiner

-       apply for a time limit extension

1.    Visit the Faculty of Graduate Studies website at http://www.uwindsor.ca/graduate-studies/

2.    Click Current Students

3.    On the left-side of the page, click Student Forms

4.    Select the appropriate form

5.    Complete and save the form

6.    Submit the completed form as a Service Request
