Women in Science (WinS) provides a network of support to build female resilience in science through workshops, mentorship, resources, outreach, and advocacy. We also work together to foster an academic environment that better prepares female students for STEM careers.

Below are some of the workshops conducted by us:

  • Women in Science Social – This annual event held in late September is an invitation to all students in science to learn more about WinS and how they can be involved. It’s also a great opportunities for students to get to know each other and brainstorm ideas on how to build resiliency and celebrate our female students, staff and faculty. 

  • A Scientist like Her – An annual event for senior elementary students to peak their interest in science. Students participate in hands-on activities and presentations and interact with our UWindsor WinS volutneers to learn more about university life and careers in science fields.  

  • WinS Seminar Speaker Series – This annual event is held each year in early February to as an opportunity for our students to hear from and interact with powerful role models in science. Guest speakers bring a wealth of knowledge and engage our students in conversation about leadership and resiliency. Past guest speakers include Dr. Imogen CoeDr. Anne McNeil and Dr. Shohini Ghose.

  • International Day of Women and Girls in Science – WinS celebrate all our female scientists and students each year in February with on campus events to engage and bring awareness of the many impactful contributions of women in science. 

  • WinS Chat – Held throughout the year, WinS Chat brings together undergraduate and graduate students in science to share their experiences and ideas centred on women in science. Grade 12 high school students are also encouraged to attend. 

  • Women in Science UWindsor – This social media program spotlights the many female graduate and postdoctoral fellow in the STEM at the University of Windsor. Participants share their passion for scientific research and their experiences as female scientists. 

  • WISE – Each year the Faculty of Science sponsors a group of undergraduate and graduate students to attend the Women in Science and Engineering Conference in Toronto held in late January. Information regarding eligibility for sponsorship is released in late November-early December.
