Bill Conklin has been elected by his peers to the Fellowship of the Royal Society of Canada for his work in Canadian and international legal theory. Every year, distinguished scholars and artists are elected to the Fellowship of the Royal Society of Canada on the basis of their exceptional contributions to Canadian intellectual life. A Windsor Law professor since the late 1970's, his work includes original, internationally recognized contributions to legal theory, Canadian constitutional and international law, and legal philosphy and education. His most recent books are Statelessness: the Enigma of an International Community (Oxford: Hart, 2014); Le savoir oublié de l’expérience des lois (trans. Basil Kingstone, Laval University Press, 2011; distributed by Gallimard) and the well-received Hegel’s Laws: the Legitimacy of a Modern Legal Order (2008) with Stanford University Press.
