History Department Community Heritage Medal

Description

The History Department at the University of Windsor is pleased to announce the Community Heritage Medal. The medal recognizes outstanding achievement in raising the profile of local history and heritage in Windsor and/or surrounding Essex, Lambton and Kent Counties.  The medal may be awarded to an individual or an organization.

Criteria

  • An individual who has contributed significantly to local history or heritage in Windsor-Essex-Lambton-Kent through research, publications, involvement in local history or heritage organizations.
  • An organization or business that has contributed significantly to the local history or heritage of Windsor-Essex-Lambton-Kent.
  • The award may be for a discrete project or a record of long-term service.

Application/Nomination Process

An individual organization can be nominated by sending a one-page (250 word) biography or description to a member of the History Department awards committee: Steven Palmer (spalmer@uwindsor.ca), Miriam Wright (mwright@uwindsor.ca) or Natalie Atkin (natkin@uwindsor.ca) by April 6. If there are no nominations, members of the awards committee may choose a recipient based on their research into local history contributors and organizations.

Award Ceremony

The winner of the Community Heritage Medal will be announced at the History Department’s Spring Awards Ceremony held in April.
