Employee Safety and Wellness Office and Workplace Accommodations
Employee Safety and Wellness (ESW) is the designated office for the management of workplace accommodations and disability-related supports for employees.
The term disability is interpreted broadly under the Ontario Human Rights Code and may include permanent, temporary, episodic, or perceived disabilities, as well as chronic medical conditions, illnesses, injuries, and the physical, mental, or psychological effects of trauma.
The accommodation process focuses on understanding how a disability affects workplace functioning and identifying appropriate supports. Employees are not required to disclose a diagnosis or personal details beyond what is reasonably necessary to support accommodation needs. The University of Windsor is committed to protecting employee privacy, dignity, and confidentiality throughout the process.
ESW will work collaboratively with employees, leaders, and other relevant parties to explore reasonable accommodations while respecting privacy, dignity, and confidentiality throughout the accommodation process. If you have questions or need more informaiton before initiating this application process, please contact our office at: eswaccommodations@uwindsor.ca. We are here to help!
