Wireless Access Maintenance to Cause Disruption in Odette

Wireless access point replacements will take place in the Odette School of Business on the following dates and areas and will disrupt services:  

  • Friday, March 8, and Tuesday, March 12, to Friday, March 15, in classrooms located in the basement, first and second floors.
  • Wednesday, March 20 to Thursday, March 21, in offices on the third, fourth and fifth floors.
  • Friday, March 22, in various outstanding locations in Odette. 

Work will not take place in a classroom while teaching is underway. 

If you have difficulty accessing the wireless network in the building after the installers have left your area, please see the knowledge article on how to forget and reconnect to Wi-Fi

HR / Payroll system (VIP), myUWinfo & more will be unavailable, Fri, March 8, 9:30 p.m. – Sat, March 9, 1 p.m.

As part of the Server Modernization Project, several systems will be unavailable due to maintenance starting Friday, March 8 at 9:30 p.m., until Saturday, March 9 at 1 p.m., unless noted. 

The applications that will be offline include:  

  • VIP – All modules (Health & Safety, Human Resources, Payroll, Pensions, Position Control, VPA, and Equity)   
  • MyUWINFO employee portal (including access to T4s) 
  • My Attendance    
  • Required Training Site   
  • Flexible Work Arrangement Request Application   
  • VIP Interfaces - data integrations for UWinsite Finance, EDS (campus directory) 
  • Tuition Waiver - restarting on Mon. March 11 
  • OT call-in system for Facility Services and Campus Police - restarting on Mon., March 11 
  • Equity Census - restarting on Mon., March 11 

Brightspace, UWinsite Student, eCV, and eGAS remain available but the data integrations for these applications will be disrupted during maintenance and restored on Mon., March 11. 

The maintenance is necessary to improve security and is scheduled for the weekend to ensure minimal disruption to users.  

If you should encounter an issue with any of the applications or modules after the scheduled maintenance, please reach the IT Service Desk by: 

  • Chatting 
  • Opening a ticket 
  • Calling 519-253-3000 ext. 4440

COMPLETED - Wireless access point replacements will take place in Leddy Library on the following dates and areas, and will disrupt services:   

  • Tuesday, Feb 27, second floor 
  • Wednesday, Feb 28, third floor 
  • Thursday, Feb 29, ground and fourth floor

More Wireless Access Points will be upgraded at a later date. The information will be shared with you when it is available.

Completed - UwinCARD hardware maintenance Friday, Feb. 16, from 10 p.m. to Sunday, Feb. 18, 5 p.m.
COMPLETED - During the hardware maintenance on Friday, Feb. 16, from 10 p.m. to Sunday, Feb. 18, 5 p.m., meal plans (basic & flex) will be accepted at on-campus food outlets.
 
UwinCARDs cannot be used at off-campus restaurants, campus photocopiers, and the Campus Bookstore during maintenance.
 
UwinCASH and employee payroll charges will be unavailable during the maintenance.

Resolved - Wireless Internet Disruption – Campus Buildings

RESOLVED - Wireless internet access is disrupted in campus buildings including the Toldo Health Education Centre, Medical Eduction Building, Essex Hall, and University Computer Centre. 

The IT Services team is investigating and looking to resolve the issue immediately.
