Fasken - Icon Scholarship Program
ICON Talent Partners has once again partnered with Fasken to contribute to the growth of Black and Indigenous representation within the legal community. This will be achieved through a combination of financial awards (10) and mentorship support, both of which are provided by Fasken for this scholarship. The awards are one-time, non-renewable, and available only to 1L students (entering Canadian laws school in 2022).  To be considered, applicants must complete the attached application form, and submit a resume and cover letter no later than September 16, 2022.

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Identify as a Black or Indigenous student;
  • Be commencing a law degree as a first-year student at a Canadian law school in the fall of 2022; and
  • Commit to participating in the Fasken mentorship program.

We will be selecting 10 exceptional students each of whom will receive the following:

  • $2,000 CND dollars in financial support;
  • A mentor from Fasken who will share their experience and the opportunities available within a full-service business law firm;
  • The opportunity to attend sessions led by Fasken lawyers which will introduce students to various aspects of legal practice; and
  • If feasible, an opportunity to meet their Fasken mentor onsite for a brief office tour.

Fasken is an international law firm with offices in Ontario, Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia. The distribution of the 10 awards across the firm’s four regions will be proportionate to the number of lawyers practicing in those regions.
