With the rapidly evolving COVID-19 pandemic and in support of both federal and provincial initiatives to help mitigate the spread of the virus, the University of Windsor continues to do its part in this regard, with the health and safety of our community at the forefront. The University of Windsor Senate unanimously approved an Emergency Academic Plan on Friday, March 13.

Last spring, the Ontario government struck an expert panel on intellectual property to help figure out ways to get businesses to better capitalize on their innovations and inventions. That panel delivered its recommendations this month. One of the findings was that there's not enough understanding of this entrepreneurial opportunity.

Professor Myra Tawfik to receive Distinguished University Professor appointment

Effective July 1, 2020 Windsor Law Professor Myra Tawfik, will be promoted to the rank of Distinguished University Professor. This is the University of Windsor’s highest rank, and it recognizes Professor Tawfik’s many talents as an innovative research scholar and teacher. Professor Tawfik will be awarded the title during the University of Windsor’s spring Convocation ceremony.

Professor Wissam Aoun develops Certificate in Patent Practice

A four-day, intensive training course developed by Professor Wissam Aoun will offer certification in patent practice, the first of its kind in Canada.

The Certificate in Patent Practice, funded by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) as part of its Intellectual Property (IP) Legal Clinics Program, is being developed for — and offered free of charge to — Canadian law students.
