STEM can only take us so far, to fully reach our goals we need STEM. There has been a lot of talk over the last several years focusing on developing the STEM fields: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. The arts are notably absent from the acronym. This attitude is beginning to shift. Influential technology companies such as Google have begun to hire in-house philosophers to critically engage the minds of their engineers, to help them think outside the box. Mark Cuban has predicted that in ten years, the most valuable degrees will be in the humanities, as the humanities teach the kinds of social skills that are impossible to carry out with computers.
