Abstract:

Social networks are an indispensable part of today’s life. Social network analysis (SNA) studies the network’s structure which can provide insight into social influences within teams and the relationship between people. We can quickly and easily understand a lot of information about the state and characteristics of a given network just by visualizing the network. This workshop consists of two parts: The theoretical part provides a high-level overview of social network analysis and its applications. Also, the practical part gives a good understanding of one of the most powerful network visualization libraries (Pyvis).

After successful completion of this workshop, the participants should be able to:

Describe the fundamentals of social networks including different centrality measures, and the application of SNA such as node classification, link prediction, graph classification, and community detection.

Use the Pyvis library to visualize a given social graph.

Prerequisites:

Familiarity with Python programming language is preferred.
