Confidentiality and Disclosure of Student Information

The University of Windsor is committed to the protection of privacy and confidentiality of all its constituency under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act of the Province of Ontario (FIPPA). For details, see the Notice of Disclosure Confidentiality and Use of Personal Information (FIPPA).

Staff cannot discuss a student account without the authorization of the student. This includes receipts, statements or discussion of financial records. University Bylaws prohibit the release of a Student ID to anyone but the student.

We recognize parents often pay on behalf of the student, thus a student may allow a delegate to their financial account.

A student may assign a delegate to access to their UWinsite Student account. Only the student and individuals listed as delegates are authorized to discuss details of the student account.

  1. In your web browser, preferably Google Chrome, go to https://www.uwindsor.ca/registrar/uwinsite-student.

  2. Click the blue SIGN IN TO UWINSITE STUDENT button.

  3. On the Sign in screen, enter (or select) your UWinID@uwindsor.ca. Click the Next button.

  4. On the Enter password screen, enter your UWin Account password. Click the Sign in button.

  5. On the Student Homepage, click the Profile tile. (NOTE: If you are on the Applicant Homepage, click the white arrow beside “Applicant Homepage” and select “Student Homepage” from the drop-down menu to find and click the Profile tile.)

  6. Click Share My Information in the left navigation menu.

  8. Read the Terms and Conditions. If you agree, click the I Accept button.

  9. On the Share My Information – Details page, enter the required information about the individual to whom you are delegating access. Identify the type(s) of information you are delegating access to by using the checkboxes next to each row in the table.

  10. Click the Save button

  11. Click OK to confirm the submission of your request.

Once you have assigned a delegate in UWinsite Student, this individual is then authorized to access the information you’ve shared and/or collect related documents that you have requested. If you’re delegate is collecting documents, they will be required to present photo ID and provide your student number. They will also be required to pay for any documents for which there is a charge.
