Campus services and facilities renamed, refreshed and reintroduced

Several campus services and facilities have been renamed to better reflect their roles and service offering to the campus community.

The names have been developed and reviewed in consultation with stakeholders and University executive leadership. The changes are aimed at greater efficiencies and aligning services that students access most.

The University of Windsor community helped Women United collect more than 6,000 books for local children and families, surpassing the group’s original goal of 5,000.

A University of Windsor professor has been named to the American Cinema Editors (ACE), the most prestigious professional honours society for film editors, becoming the first Canadian educator to receive the distinction. 

Nick Hector, an associate professor in the Department of Communication, Media and Film, has been working as a documentary filmmaker and editor for more than 40 years, having worked on more than 170 films worldwide.  

Action Jaxon Film Festival Opens Submissions to Honour Late UWindsor Student

Action Jaxon Film FestThe Action Jaxon Film Festival will honour the life and creative legacy of UWindsor student Jaxon Moore through an evening of short film screenings, awards, and community connection.

Submissions are open for the Action Jaxon Film Festival, a short film showcase taking place to honour the legacy of late UWindsor student Jaxon Moore. 

Set for Friday, Aug. 15 in Erie Hall, Room 1120, the festival invites filmmakers of all levels to submit completed works from the past year.

Awards include Best Film, Best Performance, Rising Talent and Best Colour Grade.

Moore was a communication, media and film student and served as marketing executive for the Communication Students Association.

About five years ago, a group of electrical engineering students set out to bring their circuit designs and classroom theory to life by creating a space where students could see their ideas take shape. That vision has now been fully realized with the opening of a new student-led innovation space, aptly called the IDEA Lab.

University of Windsor expands AI strategy

The University of Windsor is enhancing its commitment to artificial intelligence (AI) through strategic actions to support responsible use of AI across campus.

Alongside ongoing faculty-led AI research, the University has already laid a strong foundation.

Work has been done through an AI Administrative Excellence Governance Committee and an AI Subcommittee of the Academic Policy Committee of Senate, exploring classroom integration, syllabus guidance, and a dedicated AI resource website.

Blood Ties, a bold and darkly comedic Canadian musical will be making its Windsor debut this Friday—July19—at the Hatch Studio Theatre in the Jackman Dramatic Art Centre at the University of Windsor. 

Featuring UWindsor Alumni both on stage and behind the scenes, this fully staged production delivers a wickedly hilarious musical thriller about friendship, trauma—and cleaning up blood before a wedding.
