In the heart of the Great Lakes, where the Detroit River connects millions across two countries, the University of Windsor hosted a first-of-its-kind workshop to strengthen cross-border stewardship of shared waterways.
The University partnered with the Detroit-Windsor United Nations Regional Centre of Expertise (RCE) to welcome the International Joint Commission’s (IJC) Great Lakes Water Quality Board for a two-day event held Nov. 20 and 21.

Aligning with institutional efforts to deepen academic collaboration and global engagement, the University of Windsor and Beijing City University (BCU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) as part of a delegation visit.
This MOU signals a reconnection with Beijing City University. Previous partnerships resulted in BCU students studying at UWindsor for English language improvement and graduate studies.

A new partnership between the University of Windsor and Fulbright Canada will bring leading American scholars to campus, enriching research and public dialogue across disciplines.
UWindsor President J.J McMurtry and President and CEO of the Foundation for Educational Exchange between Canada and the United States and Executive Director of Fulbright Canada, Michael Hawes, signed the agreement at an event held in the Black Scholars Institute Lounge on Wednesday, Oct. 8.

The University of Windsor has secured its strongest showing ever in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, placing in the top 25 per cent of universities worldwide and earning national recognition as one of Canada’s leading non-medical institutions.
UWindsor’s calculated global rank improved to 532nd, up 10 spots from last year, maintaining its position in the 501–600 band.

This summer, the University of Windsor welcomed a cohort of top international undergraduate students through the Mitacs Globalink Research Internship (GRI) program, connecting global talent with local research expertise.
At UWindsor, the interns worked on a diverse set of projects across health, engineering, sustainability and the social sciences. Topics ranged from quantum machine learning and biosensor development to smart infrastructure design and the experiences of international students in Canada.
