Financial Support

Students who apply to the major paper stream are considered for Graduate Teaching Assistantships. These are guaranteed for three semesters for a maximum of $17,480.40 (current value).

Students with a minimum GPA of 80% (or equivalent) in the last two years of study are eligible for an entrance scholarship. Domestic students who wish to be considered for the University of Windsor entrance scholarship should submit a complete application no later than May 1st for Fall admission or September 1st for Winter admission. International students who wish to be considered for an entrance scholarship should submit a complete application on or before December 1st for entry the following September. Students with a minimum GPA of 80% and a strong research proposal (major paper or thesis) are encouraged to submit applications for OGS and SSHRC scholarships.

The Conference Travel Support Fund for graduate students supports students for conference travel ($500 for travel within North America and $750 for travel outside North America).

 

GA Positions

Graduate Assistants (GAs) are employed by academic department to assist with teaching-related duties.

Graduate Assistants are unionized and governed by a Collective Agreement (CUPE 4580).

Full-time doctoral and Master's students in eligible programs may be offered a Graduate Assistantship (GA) for up to 140 hours per term. Under the current GA/TA collective agreement, a Master’s students who is offered a GA position will receive GA support for a total of three terms. One additional GA term may be provided depending on availability. The value of a full 140-hour Master's GA is $5,943.00 per term (rates as of Sept. 1, 2024).
