Natalie Suzor

Natalie Suzor graduated with her BA in International Relations and Development Studies with concentrations in International Exchange and French Language in May 2021. During her third year of her undergrad, she studied abroad in Lyon, France at Université Jean Moulin Lyon III, taking courses in European Union law, political science, geography, and French language. She was part of the first cohort of the political science thesis option in her fourth year. Her thesis focussed on cross-border cooperation and trade in post-Brexit Northern Ireland by conducting a comparative study between the Irish border and the Swedish-Norwegian border. Throughout her undergrad, Natalie worked as a Teaching Assistant for various courses, participated in the Mentorship & Learning Program as a mentor in POLS 1000, and was heavily involved with Enactus Windsor and The Liberty Project.

“I’m so thankful for the variety of experiences I gathered throughout my undergrad at UWindsor. I was lucky to work closely with Dr. Sutcliffe and Dr. Essex during my fourth year for my undergraduate thesis. I gained so much from this year long project under their supervision, and I am glad to have had the chance to undertake a project like this in preparation for graduate school.  My fourth-year International Relations seminars with Dr. Lanoszka and Dr. Najem were integral parts of my degree and served as great culminations for the program. As an IR major, International Exchange was an incredible way to experience other parts of the world, while studying abroad in France and completing my French Language concentration were the perfect ways to maintain a high level of proficiency in French. The support of the professors in the department and the small class sizes really allow you to gain so much from your time here.”

After spending eight months working as a federal government employee, Natalie will begin an MA in Global Governance at The University of Waterloo in September 2021, where she has been awarded a Graduate Fellowship. She hopes to focus her studies on global policy issues, such as environmental and social inequalities around the world, how emerging economies find their place in global governance, and how women in the Global South are affected by development policies.
