I am an Outstanding Scholars graduate and was lucky enough to work under the guidance of Dr. Miljan as a research assistant for three years. We worked on numerous projects, one of which included studying the electoral success of Donald Trump (beyond the lens of traditional electoral politics).
I have served as the President of the Pre-Law student society, and as Director of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities on the UWSA Board of Directors. I have also been involved in Jack.org, and as a student mentor for GirlUp UWindsor. My research with Dr. Miljan, in addition to courses taught by Dr. Najem, Dr. Richter, and Dr. Maltseva (respectively, International Conflict and its Resolution, Strategic Studies, and the Politics and Security in Russia & Eurasia) all informed my desire to pursue a graduate degree in international policymaking, as well as in global security challenges, particularly within Europe and the Middle East.
Being an IR student belonging to the University of Windsor was one of my most foundational experiences because it allowed me to find a true and honest passion for understanding things like national interests in peace and war, as well as how international conflicts are managed. Being able to determine that this is what interested me most was in large part due to the support of our faculty. They provided me with an excellent theoretical and empirical foundation upon which I feel I can confidently pursue further international studies and took the time to share their valuable professional and academic insight whenever was needed. This propelled my confidence in an impactful way. I do not know if I would have so easily found this profound of an interest without such support.
A special thank you to Dr. Huffaker. Truly working to understand the rich and complex history in different parts of the world is integral to diplomacy, and from her I learned that I will always have to consider this.
Beginning in August 2022, I will be moving to Germany to pursue a Dual Master of International Affairs and of Global Affairs between Berlin’s Hertie School of Governance and the University of Toronto’s Munk School. This will allow me to further explore international relations and security studies from both a European and North American perspective. I am proudly taking the things I have learned at Windsor with me.
