About This Role

Vesna Kaps provides comprehensive legal and administrative support to researchers at the University of Windsor, guiding research proposals and applications from pre-award through post-award. She works closely with faculty, students, the Office of Research and Innovation Services (ORIS), Research Finance, and external partners to ensure all legal obligations, agreements, and responsibilities are clearly understood and met. As part of the Office of Innovation, Partnerships and Entrepreneurship (OIPE) team, she also plays a key role in intellectual property (IP) disclosure reviews and the drafting and revision of IP-related legal agreements.

What I Do on the Team

• Assists researchers in moving research proposals and applications forward, drafting, reviewing, revising, and explaining all research-related legal matters so faculty and students understand their obligations and responsibilities.
• Provides both pre-award and post-award support, working with ORIS, Research Finance, researchers, and external entities such as industrial partners, other educational institutions, and government bodies on grants, awards, and agreements.
• Reviews IP disclosures as part of the OIPE team, provides assistance with IP issues, and drafts, reviews, and revises legal agreements associated with intellectual property.
